Austin's unemployment rate ticked up to start off the new year.
The non-adjusted jobless rate for the Austin-Round Rock area increased to 3.2 percent in January, up from an adjusted 3 percent in December, according to data released Friday by the Texas Workforce Commission. Companies shed 1,297 jobs in the first month of 2016.
Austin's 3.2 percent unemployment was the second best rate in the state, trailing the Amarillo area at 3 percent and ahead of Lubbock at 3.3 percent. The workforce commission…
