The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision earlier this week to limit states’ efforts to collect claims data from insurers could have an impact in Oregon.
The court ruled 6-2 in favor of Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. and against the state of Vermont. The justices ruled that efforts by at least 18 states that gather medical claims data conflict with federal reporting requirements.
Specifically, the justices ruled that states can’t require self-insured plans to report the information.
